The purpose of a CV is to fetch you the interview call.

How to write an effective CV?

Include
only relevant information. Your CV may need some amount of
customization according to the nature of the job you are looking for.
You have to highlight different facets of your personality and
different aspects of your education and work experience for different
jobs.

First thing first

Employer
is not keen on knowing your father's name or postal address on opening
up your CV. He is keen to know about your academic achievements, if you
are a fresher and your work experience, if you are experienced .
Prioritize the information in your CV to maintain the attention of the
reader.

Highlight the differentiators and achievements

Highlight any achievement or qualification that gives you edge over other job seekers. For e.g. if you are a
fresher and you have been a topper of your class, do whatever possible(Make it bold or underline) to make sure that it is not going to miss the recruiters eye. Similarly, if you are experienced
and your particular achievement has been acknowledged by your employer, highlight it.

Words with Impact

Use words that demonstrate your control over things. For e.g. managed, achieved, excelled.

Use Numbers

Showing numbers add more impact to the point you are making. For
e.g. My summer project helped in improving the firms labor efficiency by 38% in a span of two months.

Simple language

Keep the CV precise and to the point. You will lose the recruiters attention if you make it verbose with useless stuff.

Format the CV

A neat CV attracts the recruiter more than the one which has
information dumped on it. Provide all the relevant information but in a neat
and attractive manner.

Check for spellings and grammar

Keep
the CV free of any spelling and grammatical mistakes. They show
unprofessional and reckless attitude. Request your friends and teachers
to check for these mistakes.

Key areas of a good CV

First think what is it that you want
to communicate through the CV. Now, prepare the CV
keeping that in mind.

Following are the key areas which if well
written catch the immediate attention of the employer.

Executive/Career summary

Short and simple executive summary on the top of your CV will grab the attention of the recruiter. Keep
it short and to the point while trying to focus on the relevant strengths and
achievements.

Work experience and Educational background

If you are experienced, mention it after the executive
summary in a chronological order with the latest job first. If you are
a fresher educational back ground should be there. Mentioning
acievements rather than responsibilities is more impactful.

No 'I' & 'My"

Everyone knows that your are talking about yourself and not about your friend in your CV. Avoid
the use of words like I, my in the CV. It makes you look egomaniac.
